To all my 80s babies, you remember “Just Another Day In Paradise by Phil Collins?” It was about global hunger and poverty in the world. It was an anthem back in the 1980s. It was not just catchy but it had a deeper meaning. The paradise was figurative and referred to physical bondage, that bondage, hunger and nothingness in the streets. It wasn’t paradise, it was hell but it spoke figuratively about hardship.
Love will Conquer All is a song by Lionel Richie about a special love around the same time as that song by Phil Collins. They both went solo in the 1980s but Phil’s song was more meaningful. It was real. They were both ballads but they had a meaning that seprated them.
Lionel did conscious and non-love songs but when Phil did a song, a non-love song, this love song, they were both eighties jams but if you moved pass the catchiness you’ll get the raw meanings. Phil, a real guy, Lionel also a real guy. They’ll never be anyone to compare.
